Course Description
Enrol NOW!Career Training Institute of Australia (CTIA)
CTIA is offering SIT20116 Certificate II in Tourism which includes both theory and practical delivery. To allow students to consolidate their theory as well as put various units into practice, CTIA have students experience the tourism industry first-hand by immersing them in either an Eco tourism or leisure tourism experience.
The objective is to provide students with a program that addresses all the necessary criteria from units including Source and use information on the tourism and travel industry, participate in safe work practices and research and share information on Australian Indigenous culture*.
Study is required over a number of subjects which is disseminated into experiential learning through participating in one of the practical tourism experiences, which is a mandatory component of the course as practical assessment takes place during the experience.
*Where this unit is chosen as an elective, students will be included in consultation activities with local community leaders.
COURSE COST:
VETiS is funded by the VET investment budget, this means there are no costs to eligible students. This funding covers the cost of the qualification and all costs associated with the training including resources and consumables on the Indigenous practical cultural awareness full day program.
PROGRAM INCLUSIONS
Career Training Institute of Australia is able to offer two tourism experiences depending on the focus and outcome required. CTIA facilitates an experience specifically for students in years 10 to 12 where they can integrate knowledge learnt in class with practical real-life situations experienced in the tourism industry. See first-hand the tourism sectors in action! Observe industry experts as they interact with guests and provide advice on products and services all in a real tourism industry environment.
The program takes students out of the classroom and into an interactive environment, allowing students to complete both theory and practical training within a workplace context to emphasise the employability skills required today. Dependant on the practical experience chosen, activities may include:
- The unique ecosystem of Moreton Island and the impacts of eco-tourism
- The tourism industry in action and associated jobs
- The iconic Gold Coast tour, become a tourist and see why it is the tourism destination of choice
