VETiS (Vocational Education and Training in Schools)

CTIA offers Certificate II qualifications in Tourism and Hospitality through Queensland’s VET in Schools (VETiS) program, with subsidised training administered by the Queensland Department of Trade, Employment and Training (DTET).

These programs provide an introduction to the tourism and hospitality industries and may support pathways into entry-level roles and further VET study.

No student/co-contribution fees apply for eligible students in the VETiS program (Queensland Government pays the Skills Assure Supplier/RTO for delivery).

Eligible VETiS qualifications are those approved for delivery and listed on the Queensland Subsidised Training List (QSTL).

Students can undertake VETiS as certificate training (general training pathway) or as a school-based apprenticeship or traineeship (SAT) (where a training contract is in place). Under Queensland Government funding rules, students may only access one subsidised training program at a time. This means a participant cannot be enrolled in both a Career Start program and another subsidised program (such as Career Ready or another government funded course) concurrently.

Training and assessment is delivered in accordance with the 2025 Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) (in effect from 1 July 2025).

Students who complete a Certificate I or II at school may still be able to access further Queensland Government subsidised training post-school, including Career Start (which replaced the former Certificate 3 Guarantee and User Choice programs from 1 July 2025, subject to eligibility).
